Panavision’s Martin Cayzer to chair Ausfilm

Ausfilm has appointed Panavision Australia Managing Director Martin Cayzer as Chairman of Ausfilm for a two-year term. Ausfilm’s elected Board, which comprises senior representatives of the screen-services sector in Australia, chooses the Chairman, in addition to two Deputy Chairs. They are joined by a rotating representative from a State Screen Agency partner, together forming an Executive Committee for the organisation.

As well as covering Australia, Cayzer is also responsible for Panavision’s SE Asia operations through distributors in Japan, Hong Kong, China and India. He has been with the Australian operation for 12 years, with 25 years’ total experience through Panavision global operations in London, New Zealand, Melbourne and Sydney, and was previously Co-Deputy Chair of Ausfilm as well as Chair of the Ausfilm Policy Committee. The Panavision Australia Group of companies has grown over the last 40 years of operation to become the leading supplier of high-precision motion picture camera, lighting, crane and audio rental and sales in Australia. Panavision Australia employs over 110 permanent staff in six operational offices in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast

Cayzer replaces Holding Redlich’s Ian Robertson as Chairman, who has held the position since 2003. Robertson, Managing Partner of Holding Redlich lawyers in Sydney, steered Ausfilm through an intense period of advocacy and marketing during his Chairmanship, culminating in the announcement of the Australian Screen Production Incentive, comprising the Location and Post, Digital and VFX (PDV) Offsets, in May’s Federal Budget.

Also joining Ausfilm’s Executive Committee as Deputy Chair is Atlab Group General Manager Alaric McAusland, who is responsible for operations servicing digital postproduction, distribution, laboratory and cinema systems integration from every state in Australia and from New Zealand. McAusland joins Fox Studios Australia’s Head of Business and Legal Affairs, Catherine McDonnell, as Co-Deputy Chair.

Australia’s Federal content attraction organisation, Ausfilm is a Government-industry partnership comprising Australia’s State and Territory Screen Agencies, some 40 private sector screen production service companies and Australia’s Federal Government through the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA). Ausfilm markets Australia’s incentives, locations and capabilities in production and Post/Digital/VFX (PDV) to attract international content to produce and/or conduct PDV in Australia.
