Media mogul James Packer is getting into the film business.
It has been reported Packer will team up with director Brett Ratner to form a film development, production and finance company, RatPac Entertainment.
The pair aim to produce and finance independent films as well as co-financing big-budget projects with studios.
“We intend to build a major independent film company which not only has the ability to fully finance its films, but which also offers creative independence for its filmmakers,” Ratner said in a statement.
The two have already shown interest in co-financing two projects, though further details have not yet been made public.
Packer is the chairman of Crown Limited and the son of the late media tycoon Kerry Packer.
Ratner is is an American film director, film producer, and music video director, known for his work as executive producer on popular television series Prison Break. He also produced successful feature films Mirror Mirror and Horrible Bosses.
