Robert Connolly’s children’s film Paper Planes set to shoot in WA this year

ScreenWest has invested in Robert Connolly's upcoming children's film Paper Planes.

The new feature, about a young Australian boy’s passion for flight and his challenge to compete in the World Paper Plane Championships in Japan, will be shot in Western Australia later this year.

Connolly is currently producing the 17-part film The Turning, which is shooting at WA Churchlands Senior High School. WA culture and the arts minister John Day visited the set to make the Paper Planes announcement.

“Today I was able to meet and observe a number of talented WA filmmakers at work on Tim Winton’s The Turning and the production of Paper Planes should also employ the majority of its cast and crew from WA,” Day said in a statement.

WA producer Liz Kearney is on board as a producer.
