Australian feature doc to premiere at 2007 International Documentary Film Festiv

Faraway Productions Pty Ltd (Faramarz K-Rahber and Axel Grigor) is thrilled to announce that its recently completed feature documentary Donkey In Lahore has been selected for the 20th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which will take place from Nov 22  Dec 2.
The film has been selected for the festival¹s First Appearance Competition, which means that it is eligible for the First Appearance Award and the IDFA Audience Award.
Donkey In Lahore charts the four-year journey of Brian, an Australian Gothic and a puppeteer, who falls in love with a young Muslim woman in Pakistan during a visit to Lahore in 2000. Upon his return to Australia, he decides to convert to Islam and return to Pakistan to seek her hand in marriage. Despite Amber¹s wish to marry Brian, her family is unimpressed by the idea of her marrying an unknown foreigner. And when Brian¹s tumultuous past comes back to haunt him, their dream of a life together appears more beyond their reach than ever.
IDFA is one of the most important festivals on the documentary calendar and has previously screened works by pre-eminent Australian filmmakers such as Bob Connolly & Robin Anderson, Dennis O¹Rourke, Tom Zubrycki, Curtis Levy, Mark Lewis, Tony Ayres and Christine Olsen.
Faraway Productions couldn¹t be happier with the locale for the film¹s International Premiere and looks forward to this great opportunity to have the film seen by a wider international audience.

The film was developed in association with the Australian Film Commission, produced in association with SBS Independent (commissioning editors: Ned Lander & Trevor Graham) and financed by Film Finance Corporation Australia (investment managers: Susan McKinnon & Julia Overton).
