New South Wales film and television industry acclaimed in 2007 AFI Awards nomina

Film and television programs from New South Wales have been acclaimed in today’s announcement of the AFI Award nominations for 2007, with nominations across feature film, television drama and documentary categories.
In congratulating all NSW nominees, Chief Executive of the FTO, Tania Chambers, said: ‘In all, of a total of 37 Award categories, 31 featured projects which received direct funding through the FTO’s various grants and investment programs, including script development, production investment, travel assistance and the Regional Filming Fund. In addition, many nominations were received by other films and television programs made in New South Wales, while nominations were also announced for some projects made elsewhere but produced by NSW-based production companies. The New South Wales screen industry has an extraordinary depth of talent and this is reflected in the AFI Award nominations.’
The feature film Clubland, filmed entirely on location in Sydney and produced by Sydney-based Essential Viewing, received 11 AFI Award nominations, including Best Director and Best Screenplay. The film was developed and produced with the support of the New South Wales Film and Television Office.
Best Film nominees Romulus, My Father and The Home Song Stories and also received the financial assistance of the FTO.

The three television series vying for the Best Television Drama Series – All Saints, Dangerous and Love My Way – were all produced in New South Wales while Best Telefeature or Mini Series nominee Bastard Boys received production investment from the FTO. Best Children’s Television Drama nominee I Got a Rocket was also produced with FTO production investment.
Three Best Documentary nominees received FTO financial assistance. They are Forbidden Lies, 4 and Global Haywire. Visual Effects Award nominee Crocodile Dreaming received production investment from the FTO and the FTO Young Filmmakers Fund Film Crossbow has been nominated for Best Screenplay.
