Queensland’s world-class crew, spectacular locations and filmmaking incentives have ensured smooth sailing as the second series of Sea Patrol wraps on the Gold Coast.
Arts Minister Rod Welford visited the set of Sea Patrol II – The Coup at Warner Roadshow Studios today to watch some of the final scenes being filmed, before principal photography ends on 8 February.
‘After four months of filming in Far North Queensland, the cast and crew of Sea Patrol II are shooting the final scenes at Warner Roadshow Studios,’ Mr Welford said.
‘The successful shoot of this series has confirmed the buoyancy of Queensland’s film and television industry.
‘Our film and television industry is going gangbusters with $118.2 million worth of production already slated for this financial year.
‘Our Government provides incentives and investment to lure a steady stream of screen projects to Queensland.
‘Local production crews are reaping the rewards of this prosperity, with both series of Sea Patrol creating over 550 jobs in Queensland.’
Sea Patrol II – The Coup will air on the Nine Network later in 2008. It is a 13-part drama series based on the Royal Australian Navy Patrol Boat Service, starring Lisa McCune, Ian Stenlake, Saskia Burmeister and Alan Dale.
Mr Welford witnessed some impressive special effects on set today and met key cast, senior crew members and series producers Hal and Di McElroy.
‘We’re always thrilled to welcome veteran producers Hal and Di McElroy back to Queensland,’ Mr Welford said.
Sea Patrol – Series One achieved record ratings and was purchased for worldwide distribution by a major cable network at MIPCOM 2007, an international television market held annually in Cannes.
‘A large part of Sea Patrol’s immediate international success are the stunning vistas of Far North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef, all captured by our world-class Queensland crew,’ said producer Hal McElroy.
