Foxtel’s flagship entertainment channel, FOX8, has today launched the search for Australia’s Next Top Selfie in the lead up to the much-anticipated new season of Australia’s Next Top Model which premieres on Tuesday, July 9 at 7.30pm EST.
The FOX8 promotion is asking for Australia’s Next Top Model fans to enter their best "selfie" via Instagram and hashtag with #antmselfie and #fox8tv. Entries will be streamed live on their Facebook pages and online at www.fox8.tv. The competition will be promoted on FOX8, the Austereo Network nationally, social media and through series magazine partner Bauer Media Group.
“Selfies are a global social media phenomenon” said FOX8's Marketing Manager Lisa Byrne.
“We recognised there was a significant opportunity to engage a wide audience by tapping into a social media behaviour that is fast becoming second nature, especially in the youth demographic where FOX8's content and audience is particularly strong.”
The entries will be judged by Top Model host Jennifer Hawkins and judges Charlotte Dawson, Alex Perry and newcomer Didier Cohen. The winner will receive their own full page ad in Cosmopolitan Magazine, VIP tickets to the live Australia’s Next Top Model finale and $1000 spending money.
A recent research report conducted by UTS found „selfies accounted for 15 per cent of all pictures posted to Instagram and most were posted by under 25's.
Although Instagram does not release penetration figures, it is reported the number of registered accounts in Australia is over 1 million.
