Network Ten today confirmed that Peter Meakin will take up his role as Executive Director of News and Current Affairs in February, 2014.
Mr Meakin's appointment to Ten was announced on August 16, 2013.
Network Ten Chief Executive Officer, Hamish McLennan, said: "We are very pleased Peter will be joining us in February to lead our News and Current Affairs team.
"Peter is a legend of the television industry and his appointment underlines our commitment to hiring the best people. Everyone at Ten is looking forward to his arrival."
Mr Meakin will report to Chief Executive Officer, Hamish McLennan, and will be responsible for the Network's News and Current Affairs programming, including TEN Eyewitness News, TEN Eyewitness News Late and Reveled with Hugh Riminton.
He will also be responsible for TEN's new breakfast and morning television line-up – TEN Eyewitness News Early, Wake Up, Studio 10 and TEN Eyewitness News Morning – which will launch later this year.
Network Ten's Head of News and Current Affairs, Anthony Flannery, will report to Mr Meakin.
