Films from Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Italy, Malta, Romania, Wales, Ireland, Canada and Columbia will feature as part of the 2013 Adelaide Kids Film Festival program.
The internationally renowned annual film festival has grown to be one of Australia's biggest film festivals for kids, by kids, and the 2013 program announcement has proven why this is the case. With submissions closing at the beginning of October, Festival Director, Chloe Gardner, was amazed by the entries the festival received.
"Not only did we receive dozens of entries from both primary and secondary school students across South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia, but we also received packages from across the globe. I was absolutely blown away."
"Films in the 2013 program range from hilarious LEGO animations to detailed documentaries, and action packed thrillers to inspiring dramas. The most incredible thing to remember is that kids have made these films," she said.
Workshops and sessions in the program include make-up and special effects with award-winning SFX make up artist Danielle Veltmeyer and a Q&A session the filmmakers from Wolf Creek 2 and Snowtown at the AC arts as part of the Senior School program.
"We have also secured a number of films that we will be screening at the festival including three incredible films from South Korea, Poland and Germany, as well as an exclusive viewing of the trailer to Network Ten's new series The Adventures of Sam Fox followed by a Q&A session with the actors," said Gardner.
The 2013 judging panel includes media personalities Nathan Blazey (ABC3) and Peter Goers (ABC891), along with Curriculum Manager for New Media at the Department of Education, Kym Nadebaum, and a jury of 200 local children.
The festival is backed by big names including Emmy Award winning film director, Mario Andreacchio, and internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter Sia Furler, who have been patrons since its inception in 2011.
The festival, held from 14-17 November, 2013, will showcase and nurture the talents of young filmmakers over four days of screenings and Q&A sessions with industry professionals. For more information and to view the entire program visit www.akff.com.au.
