The breath of Adelaide born singing sensation Sia is one of the auction items up for grabs as the Adelaide Film Festival holds its first ultimate film quiz night hosted by Festival patrons Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton.
The dynamic duo will oversee proceedings at the event this Friday October 31, from 6.30pm, at the Channel Nine studios in North Adelaide, acting as quizmasters and overseeing the auction of unique prizes, including the jar featuring the breath of Sia.
Adelaide Film Festival Festival Director and CEO Amanda Duthie said she contacted the ARIA-nominated Sia through “two degrees of separation” and explained they were raising funds for Adelaide filmmakers and asked her to contribute.
“Gorgeously and magnificently, she breathed into a jar for us,” Amanda said. “Her breath is in a Mason jar with silver sealing wax, so no one can accidentally open it. Whoever wins it will be able to break the seal – or just let it be.”
Other auction items will include walk-on ‘extra’ role in Anthony LaPaglia’s new feature film A Month of Sundays, to be filmed in Adelaide early 2015; and a chance to be a street clown in Adelaide’s iconic Credit Union Christmas Pageant, to be held on November 8.
Pomeranz said: “David and I are thrilled to once again be heading south to the always innovative Adelaide Film Festival to take part in what should be a very competitive and entertaining event. We're looking forward to meeting supporters of the Festival whose passion for film and film facts, trivia even, will challenge even David's extensive knowledge.”
Amanda said it was an honor to welcome the AFF ambassadors back to Adelaide before they record their final episode of ABC-TV’s At The Movies.
“AFF is excited to be presenting this special event to celebrate all things on screen,” she said. “Margaret and David – first name only required – could have filled the Adelaide Oval for this event and we are so happy they are running this Quiz showdown. “
AFF is a nationally celebrated screen event that has been privileged to support the careers of many South Australian filmmakers and artists. It will return in 2015, running from 15-25 October and the film trivia evening is one of many events in the lead up to the Festival.
