Academy Award Winner Russell Boyd has been confirmed as one of four high profile film industry judges for the inaugural John Jameson Productions Script Writing Competition.
Boyd, who won an Oscar for his cinematography work on the film Master and Commander, will join respected actress and film critic Lisa Hensley, Shine and Strictly Ballroom producer Jane Scott and writer Jan Sardi on the judging panel.
The competition, which is funded by Jameson Irish Whiskey, offers three aspiring film writers the chance to have their script for a short film produced by a professional production team with a budget of $20,000 each.
Jameson Irish Whiskey Brand Manager Monica Hart said she was thrilled to secure such strong talent for the John Jameson Productions initiative.
“Having the support of some of the country’s finest film professionals for the competition in its inaugural year is fantastic,” Hart said.
“The participation of globally recognised film heavyweights such as Academy-Award winner Russell Boyd show this is a competition with real industry merit that presents aspiring script writers with a genuine opportunity to get their big break.”
Leading post production and digital effects agency The Lab, Panavision and Fox Studios have all been confirmed as production partners.
Entries for the 2008 competition close on Wednesday 30th April which means budding writers have just two weeks to get their entries in.
