Australia’s premiere post production facility Soundfirm scored at the US box office when the film The Forbidden Kingdom opened in the number one spot.
The film raked in an unexpected $21.4 million during its opening weekend, beat critic’s prediction with Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
The Forbidden Kingdom is an English-language Chinese epic, directed by Rob Minkoff (The Haunted Mansion, The Lion King) and starring action superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li. The film was shot on location in China, with post production taking place in both Los Angeles and Korea. The entirety of the film’s sound post production took place at Soundfirm’s Melbourne, Sydney and Beijing facilities.
In the past Soundfirm has provided Post Production Services for such high-profile Chinese features as The Curse Of The Golden Flower, House Of Flying Daggers and Kung Fu Hustle. Soundfirm continues its strong relationship with the Chinese market with Red Cliff, an epic feature film from director John Woo (Face/Off, Mission Impossible II, Paycheck). Red Cliff is currently being sound posted at Soundfirm’s Australian facilities and is due for international release July 08.
