The Block vs House Rules in Reno Rumble

Event television will be taken to a whole new level with the arrival of Reno Rumble when it premieres on Tuesday May 5 at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.

Australia fell in love with them on The Block and House Rules, but now eight couples will battle it out in the all-new, ultimate six week knockout competition. Reno Rumble will pit the nation’s best reality renovators in a head-to-head, supercharged home makeover show like no other, renovating two houses every week.

Each week one couple will be eliminated. Who will be the last one standing?

In this exciting new amplified format, hosted by Scott Cam, Australia’s best reality renovating couples will be split into two teams.

Representing the home team from The Block are the Redbacks:

Josh (28) and Jenna (27), VIC
Power couple from The Block 2011 and The Block: All Stars 2013

Kyal (29) and Kara (27), NSW
The Super Ks from The Block: Fans v Faves in 2014

Michael (32) and Carlene (32), QLD
Audience favourites from The Block Glasshouse in 2014

Ayden (31) and Jess (32), QLD
Currently starring in The Block Triple Threat.

They’ll be going toe-to-toe with the team from the across the tracks, all former contestants on House Rules – the Blue Tongues:

Carly (34) and Leighton (34), NSW
(originally from SA)
Winners of House Rules season one in 2013

Michelle (50) and Steve (50), NSW
Runners-up on House Rules season one

Nick (24) and Chris (29), VIC
Brothers from House Rules season one

Jemma (28) and Ben (29), WA
New parents from House Rules season one

Each week our contestants will hit the road and travel to the suburbs of Melbourne to renovate not one but TWO neighbouring houses. The homeowners are deserving Aussies who will have their dreams turned into reality as our superstar renovators transform their ordinary houses into stunning homes.

The finished product will be blind-judged by two of Australia’s leading interior design experts, Darren Palmer and Romy Alwill, who have been briefed by the homeowners. This brief is what the teams will be judged on for elimination immunity and competition survival.

Each team will be given a builder to help them manage their workload and trades.

And there’ll be more room reveals than ever. Teams will have to transform half a house in just two days. The couple who score the most points in the winning house in the midweek reveals will get immunity from elimination at the end of the week when the rest of the house is unveiled.

At the end of each week the couple with the lowest score on the losing team will be eliminated. Never has it been more critical to work together as a team to protect your own survival.

The Blue Tongues are seasoned at delivering a complete house in a week, while the home team from The Block have only ever had to do one or two rooms a week.

Who will reign supreme to collect the $100,000 winner’s cheque, with half going to the winning couple’s favourite charity, and a top of the range Mazda CX-5?
