Golden Age unveil latest program

CIAO BAMBINO!

Golden Age is livin' la dolce vita next week with some irresistible Italian cinema – both contemporary and classic.

NEW RELEASE – YOUTH
Paolo Sorrentino, director of Oscar-winning The Great Beauty, is back with his second English language film, Youth, starring veteran actors Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel. They play Fred and Mick, two friends in their seventies who are reflecting on life while vacationing together in a luxury resort in the Swiss Alps. Youth was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes and won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor (Michael Caine) at the European Film Awards.

WHEN IN ROME
Golden Age is celebrating Sorrentino's new release by bringing back The Great Beauty, paired with Fellini classic La Dolce Vita for a Satur-date night double. Then Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck swoon and swerve all over Rome in Roman Holiday for the Sunday matinee, and get to know one of Venice's most famous dwellers in Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict

SKIN DEEP Q&A SCREENING

This Sunday, Golden Age is thrilled to have Women in Theatre and Screen (WITS) joining them to present an exclusive screening of the locally made film Skin Deep. Shot in and around Newtown, Skin Deep is the story of two young women, Caitlin and Leah, who form a bond when they meet by chance and decide to embark on a 'bucket list' style tour of the Inner West. The screening will include a Q&A with the writer and co-star Monica Zanetti, co-star Zara Zoe and producer Rosie Lourde.

Sunday 24th January, 8pm

THE LADIES NETWORK PRESENTS THE FUTURE
Women's artist collective The Ladies Network are guest presenting The Future, starring and written/directed by Miranda July, who will be appearing at the Opera House's All About Women festival in March. It follows a couple whose perspective on life changes when they decide to adopt a stray cat named Paw-Paw. Its artful forays into magic realism are pure Miranda July multi-hyphenate territory.
Wednesday 27th January, 8.30pm

EXTRA SESSIONS ADDED BY POPULAR DEMAND – TEHRAN TAXI
After multiple sellout screenings, Sydney exclusive Tehran Taxi is showing in two additional Saturday matinee sessions, with the bar opening a half hour beforehand. The ultimate rebel filmmaker, Jafar Panahi, has been banned by the Iranian government from making films for 20 years. Yet this is the third film Panahi has made in secret, this time with his camera attached to a taxi's dashboard.
