The Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) has announced a new edition to its program: VR Plus.
The event, presented by Film Victoria, will explore the intersection of documentary and factual media with virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and gaming.
To be held on March 5, VR Plus will consist of three sessions and a networking event.
Sessions include:
• VR Plus Keynote: Revolution or Evolution?: VR, Games and the Future of Documentary
VR/AR designer, filmmaker and founder of NYC-based iNK Stories Navid Khonsari considers how immersive technologies are revolutionising the documentary landscape, using his acclaimed docu-game about the Iranian revolution – 1979: Revolution – as a case study.
• Immersed in the Story: Virtual Reality and the Art of Narrative
Three leading voices in factual VR – Navid Khonsari, Lynette Wallworth (Collisions) and Oscar Raby, the co-Founder of Melbourne factual VR studio VRTOV – will discuss the importance of story in developing an engaging virtual reality experience.
• Northern Exposure: How Local AR/VR Producers Can Enter the Global Market
VRTOV Co-Founder Katy Morrison and filmmaker Melanie Horkan (My Enemy, My Brother) reveal the ins and outs of doing business in the international VR/AR landscape.
• Social Presence: VR Plus Networking Session
