Margot Robbie is well positioned to add an AACTA Audience Choice Award to her Trailblazer prize at this Saturday’s ceremony, getting a nod for Favourite Actress, while two of the films she produced — Barbie and Saltburn — are up for Favourite Film.
AACTA received more than 300,000 votes to determine the nominees across Favourite Film, TV Show, Actress, Actor, Australian Media Personality, Australian Sporting Moment and Australian Digital Creator.
Other home-grown hopes in the film categories include Chris Hemsworth and Jacob Elordi, who will contend for the Favourite Actor Award.
Joining Barbie and Saltburn in the field for Favourite Film are Mean Girls, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and Wonka.
AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella said the public’s engagement with the voting had been exceptional.
“The esteemed finalists reflect the diversity and talent within our industry,” he said.
“We eagerly anticipate revealing the AACTA Audience Choice winners alongside the 2024 AACTA Awards on February 10, celebrating the remarkable achievements of Australia’s entertainment and media landscape.”
The winners of the awards will be announced at the AACTA Awards main ceremony on Saturday, February 10 at Home of the Arts on the Gold Coast. The ceremony will be broadcast on 10 at 7pm AEDT while a ‘director’s cut’, featuring all awards will be available on Binge, Foxtel On-Demand and AACTA TV the next day.
