ABC3 won three KidScreen Awards, one for Best Interstitial Campaign, and its landmark drama series My Place and Dance Academy each won an award at the ceremony in New York last week.
The KidScreen Awards are among the most prestigious awards for the international Children’s Television Industry and are part of its annual Summit, attended by 43 different countries.
The Best Interstitial Campaign Award was given to ABC3 for the “Meet the Hosts” campaign which was launched after ABC3 found six young stars from a search of 6,000 kids to become the face of the channel for its launch in December 2009.
ABC3’s unique Australia drama My Place, which is based on book by Nadia Wheatley, won the award ‘Best Non-Animated or Mixed Series Award’ in the family category.
My Place producer, Penny Chapman said “I’m thrilled that My Place has received international recognition. It’s a program like no other in the world.”
As ABC3’s online audience increased by 50% over January 2010 –January 2011, it was a massive success when ABC3’s popular local drama, Dance Academy won ‘Best Companion Website’ in the teen/tween category.
