AIMC 2012: Damian Wardle to lead session on converting cinemas to digital

US theatrical exhibition industry specialist Damian Wardle is confirmed to present a session entitled ‘Streamlining Digital’ at the 67th Australian International Movie Convention (AIMC) to be held August 19-23 at Jupiter’s on the Gold Coast.

Mr. Wardle, VP of Global Theatre Technology & Presentation for one of the largest US cinema chains, Cinemark, will address delegates at a breakfast presentation on Wednesday 22 August.

Having successfully converted Cinemark's entire first-run U.S. circuit from 35mm to digital projection, Mr. Wardle is in the process of implementing the same digital strategy for Cinemark's cinemas outside the U.S.

Mr. Wardle’s AIMC presentation will cover topics including:
• the challenges for converting from 35mm
• network infrastructure
• future proofing (HFR, Laser, Satellite Delivery, Equipment)
• common causes of lost shows
• service and maintenance programs
• training

Damian Wardle has nearly 30 years’ experience in the theatrical exhibition industry and is highly respected as a leader in his field. Under his guidance, Cinemark has become recognised as an industry leader in the areas of technology and innovation.

He is credited with designing and launching Cinemark's XD: Extreme Digital Cinema brand, the company's premium large format experience, as well as Cinemark's new NextGen theatre design concept.

From 1999 to 2006, Mr. Wardle served as Sr. Vice President of Information Technology for Century Theatres. Prior to that, he held several leadership positions in the areas of operations and information technology.
