Children’s animation series Animalia will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the U.S. in September. This comes after leading family entertainment producer and distributor PorchLight Home Entertainment acquired Animalia’s U.S. DVD distribution rights, according to a report by the Animation World Network website.
The Animalia television series was developed by Melbourne-based Burberry Productions and Los Angeles-based PorchLight Entertainment, while Gold Coast visual effects company Photon VFX animated 20 of the 40 half-hour Animalia 3D episodes.
The series joins 11-year-olds Zoe and Alex on an exciting adventure through the kingdom of Animalia to solve mysteries and save the kingdom. It currently is being aired on Network Ten, and was recently nominated for the Most Outstanding Children’s Program at the 50th Annual TV Week Logies Award.
The television series is based on the award winning illustrated children’s book by British-Australian, Graeme Base, published in 1986. Animalia is originally an alphabet book with animal illustrations according to the each letter of the alphabet.
