Anthony LaPaglia and Rachel Griffiths will star in a telemovie about the early life of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange for network Ten.
Underground, from production company Matchbox Pictures, will film in Melbourne and be directed by Robert Connolly (Balibo). Connolly also penned the script for the movie.
Griffiths will play Christine, Assange's mother, while LaPaglia will take the role of a policeman investigating the young hacker. Young actor Callan McAullife (I Am Number Four, The Great Gatsby) will also star.
The role of Julian Assange has been given to newcomer Alex Williams. The actor graduated last year from the Western Academy of Performing Arts and is represented by Marquee Management.
Underground will air later this year.
