Aus Short Kill Switch Wins at US Genre Fest

PRESS RELEASE

Australian short film KILL SWITCH (written and produced by Robert Gadsbey & Michael Chrisoulakis, directed by Michael Chrisoulakis, starring Robert Gadsbey) has been awarded ‘Best Short Thriller’ at the Terror Film Festival, a leading genre festival in the US. The film was nominated in a total of six categories up against both shorts and features: Best Thriller, Best Short Film Screenplay, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Director of Cinematography and Best Music.

‘We’re absolutely thrilled to have picked up this award and so glad that our intended audience has embraced it’, says director Michael Chrisoulakis. The success at this festival caps off a run of genre festival screenings, beginning with its world premiere at the Dragon Con Independent Film Festival, part of North America’s largest annual pop-culture convention. KILL SWITCH also screened at the recent Thriller!Chiller! Film Festival, where Michael had a second short film selected, THE BIND (co-written with Edmund Jory, produced by Annmaree J. Bell). Upcoming screenings include HollyShorts at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

KILL SWITCH portrays an injured bomb disposal technician who laments the path his life has taken upon returning to society, from being contently part of the system to opposing it with a vengeance. Drawing on classic comic book elements, the filmmakers have taken a dark and unique approach to the traditional ‘origin’ story.

Michael and Robert are currently working on an expansion of the story in the form of an online series after receiving interest from an established L.A. production company. High Noon Films also has a number of feature films in development including a supernatural thriller, DARKER AFTER MIDNIGHT, and a crime thriller, STOMPING GROUND.

KILL SWITCH was shot in Sydney with post production completed in Los Angeles, where Michael now lives. It was made with the support of Metro Screen and filmed on their Sony PWM F3 camera by DOP Simon Koloadin, with colour grading completed at Fancy Film Post Production in Los Angeles by digital intermediate colourist, Michael Smollin (Wedding Crashers, New York I Love You).
