Australian production company Triptych Pictures and distributor ScreenLaunch have today announced that new Australian thriller, TOUCH, will open the inaugural Manchester International Film Festival (ManIFF2015).

TOUCH is one of 18 exclusive feature films selected from 40 different nations to run in the competition.

The festival’s announcement of the official feature selection and the first screening of the trailers was held on the 30th April in MediaCityUK, with the main three-day, weekend event due to take place from the 10th – 12th July, as part of the world-renowned Manchester International Festival.

ManIFF2015 will be held at AMC cinema and the Great Northern Warehouse, and will host a number of industry workshops alongside after parties to celebrate the official UK, European and World premieres of the best international films from around the world.

Julie Byrne, Producer of TOUCH, said: “it is a great honour for TOUCH to be recognised in this way by a world-first festival. Chris and I are extremely excited to be a part of the opening night reception and of something new and exciting on the world festival circuit.”

TOUCH is set to open in select cinemas in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney this month, with the Regal Theatre in Adelaide hosting the Australian Premiere on Sunday 17 May and a special screening in Sydney on the 18th in Bondi Junction. A series of Q&A sessions will be held following some of the screenings with cast including Leeanna Walsman and Matt Day, and writer/director Christopher Houghton, in attendance.
