Press release from 11Eleven Project
It's 11 days to go till 11/11/11 – and filmmakers around the world are cleaning their lenses, charging their batteries and preparing to participate in the largest collaborative storytelling initiative – with the focus of raising money and awareness for a variety of charities.
Oscar winner Russell Boyd and Emmy award-winner Marcus Gillezeau are two filmmakers already set to help by adding their stories to this exciting and unique creative project, giving average citizens everywhere the once-in-a-lifetime chance to work in collaboration with these celebrated artists.
For 24 hours on 11/11/11, people are being asked to create a short film to represent their life on that day. The creative works produced will contribute to the 11Eleven Project’s global narrative. Various works will then be uploaded to the 11Eleven Project’s webpage and will be collated with others into a feature length documentary.
Absolutely anyone is invited to submit his or her creative works and be involved in this amazing global partnership. Already 150 Universities have signed up, encouraging their film students it to get involved.
“I always believed that artists could contribute to making the world a better place. I want people everywhere to use their passion for entertainment and storytelling to positively contribute,” said Danielle Lauren, Creative Director.
The 11Eleven Project is a not-for-profit global initiative taking place this year on 11/11/11, a date that only occurs once every hundred years.
For 24 hours on this day, anyone with access to a recording device will be encouraged to participate in creating a ‘global snapshot’ by either recording a short film, taking a picture, blogging, composing a piece of music or recording a significant sound to represent their environment.
After November 11, submitted works will be collated into various pieces, including a documentary film – to be screened worldwide and subsequently made available on DVD and for digital download – a photo book and a music album. All sales from these items will be split evenly between our chosen charities, all of which are aligned with the 8 UN Millennium Development Goals. These charities include the World Wildlife Fund, Hamlin Fistula, Save the Children, Opportunity International, Global Voices and the Hunger Project.
Registration is open, and everyone is invited to take part. The 11Eleven Project is a chance for individuals everywhere to unite for a great cause. Make your story count.
