Media Release from CinéfestOZ
Australian actress Emma Booth will walk the red carpet at the CinéfestOZ film festival’s opening night on Wednesday, 22 August.
Emma will take a break from her commitments in Los Angeles to attend the festival and spend time with her mother, Kaye, who lives in Busselton.
Festival Director Helen Shervington says having a significant rising star such as Emma coming to CinéfestOZ is an exciting development.
“It is particularly exciting because of her close Busselton connection,” Helen said.
“Last year, Emma’s strong performance in the CinéfestOZ WA premiere of the outback thriller Swerve made it the talk of the festival. She couldn’t attend then, but we are delighted to welcome her as our guest this year,” Helen said.
Emma’s move from modelling to acting started with small roles in All Saints and Bush Patrol. She starred opposite Clive Owen in the 2009 English/Australian film The Boys are Back. She also starred in the breakthough Australian film Clubland, which screened at the Sundance Festival in 2007.
After receiving international acclaim for Clubland, she became a household name in Australia playing Kim Hollingsworth in the 2012 hit series Underbelly: The Golden Mile.
She starred as Germaine Greer in British film Hippie Hippie Shake and as Rose Pickles in Tim Winton’s Classic Cloudstreet last year.
CinéfestOZ recently announced its full program of films and events. CinéfestOZ 2012 will scree two World Premieres, two Australian Premieres (Cinematic) and seven Western Australian Premieres supported by some of Australia’s best Actors, Directors and Producers at the Festival.
Over 20 Directors, Producers and Actors attending this Festival will be immersed in the film festival program which includes not only Gala Events and a Directors Lunch, but also a Schools Program, Script Workshops, Side Bar Screenings (Short Film Sessions) and Filmmaker Q and A sessions.
The best way to experience CinéfestOZ is through Festival Gold Passes and Weekend Gold passes.
