The second Joy House Film Festival will be held on Sunday 21st September 2014 at The Conncourse’s Urban Screen from 3.30pm – 5pm.
With $2000 worth of prizes to be won with major sponsors Bendigo Bank, Hoyts, National Storage Artarmon, Aardvark Casting and North Shore Drama as the event’s major sponsors with the support of Actors Equity Australia behind this event. This is one of the few film festivals in Australia that support Diversity, giving prizes and recognition for not only for best film, but best Indigenous and Multicultural Film and Bendigo Bank’s best Youth Film.
“People know with the Joy House Film Festival that this is a positive and uplifting film festival suited for the whole family. Each year the theme is of joy, so there must be a scene of joy in each short film. It’s one of the few film festivals that supports diversity, indigenous and our youth emerging film makers," says Joy Hopwood, an active spokesperson for Diversity and was recently MC for the Walk For Respect event in Sydney, supporting 18 C in the discrimination act. Joy has been an actor / filmmaker / producer / writer and member of the Diversity Committee for Actors Equity for 20 years.
Her business partner Amadeo Marquez-Perez is Programming Manager whose credits include founder of AAFFN-Asian Australian Film forum and Networking, 15/15 International film festival, Bayside film festival and Malaysian film and arts festival.
‘Last year’s winner Maria Tran went on to bigger and better things as one of the original writers of ABC’s up and coming TV series – Maximum Choppage which will be released in October. We can’t wait to discover this year’s winner!”
