Press release from Flickerfest
Flickerfest presents the Best Of Melbourne Shorts at the Kino Cinemas this Thursday February 17th, showcasing the best, emerging and most exciting filmmakers currently working in Melbourne at the moment…
The Best Of Melbourne Shorts is a hugely diverse, often hilarious journey with highlights including recent Flickerfest winner for Best Australian Short Film “The Lost Thing”, Flickerfest winner for Most Popular Film “When The Wind Changes”, and “Deeper Than Yesterday” by wunderkind Ariel Kleiman which was the only Australian film awarded at Cannes in 2010.
Melbourne Premieres include the dark and delicious “Just Desserts” by Nigel Karikari, “Valmay The Visitor From Beep Beep Bleetlebox 967” which sees an alien visitor to Earth thrown in the middle of the annual Mardi Gras parade and “Look My Way”, a teenage comedy in the key of life by Richard Vette.
Joining these premieres is a host of other films from local Melbournians, which can all be viewed by clicking through to http://www.flickerfest.com.au/Tour_Dates.aspx
It’s an exciting programme from one of Australia’s most creative and unique filmmaking cities and we are proud to continue supporting this community.
Joining these Melbournians are two International films that won awards in Flickerfest’s Academy Accredited competition in 2011 – taking home the award for Best Short Film is the French “¿Donde Esta Kim Basinger?” and a warped animation from David O’Reilly “The External World” which won the Best Animation Prize and is another Melbourne premier.
Flickerfest will also be hosting complimentary Festival Drinks between the screenings, which are an unparalleled opportunity to meet and network with other filmmakers and filmlovers.
May The Shorts Be With You!
