SYDNEY, 4 September 2013 – FUJIFILM’s Optical Devices Division has received a 2013 LA Cine Gear Expo Technical Award for its PL 85-300mm (model ZK3.5×85) Cabrio lens. Selected at the show by a panel of industry experts, the lens was recognised as the best new product in the camera technology category.
Cine Gear Expo, in its 17th year, is the premier film, video, and digital media expo for the entertainment industry on the US west coast. Created for the industry professional, Cine Gear Expo attracts dedicated specialists from every major department of the entertainment production and postproduction world.
Fujinon’s range of Cabrio lenses have been a particular success in Australia where they are increasingly being used on current affairs programmes, TVCs and high profile TV series including Network TEN’s new drama, Wonderland. Such is the popularity of the Cabrio due to its quality of image and flexibility of use that the latest wide angle addition to the range will be released shortly at September’s IBC exhibition in Amsterdam.
Introduced late last year, the high-performance FUJINON PL 85-300 zoom lens was designed using the latest optical simulation technology, offering exceptional optical performance in both the centre of the image and in the corners of the frame. The PL 85-300’s longer lens makes it ideal for professional cinematographers and videographers. The PL 85-300 offers a focal length of 85-220mm at T2.9 and 300mm at T4.0, with 200-degree focus rotation.

The lightweight, versatile FUJINON PL 85-300 lens features an exclusive detachable servo drive unit, making it ideal for use as a standard PL lens or as an ENG-style lens. The digital servo’s 16-bit encoding assures operators that all lens data output is extremely accurate. The lens is equipped with flange focal distance adjustment, self-aligning servo drive, a macro function for extreme close-up focus, and coverage of a 31.5mm diagonal sensor. PL 85-300 can be controlled using cinema industry standard wireless controllers, as well as existing FUJINON wired and wireless units.
