Foxtel today announced the outstanding cast at work alongside Elizabeth Debicki and Matt Le Nevez on The Kettering Incident drama series in Tasmania.
Set against the haunting gothic landscape of southern Tasmania, the gripping eight episode mystery thriller with otherworldly overtones is being produced by Porchlight Films and Sweet Potato Films to premiere on Foxtel’s SoHo channel in 2015.
AACTA Award winner Debicki plays the leading role of Dr Anna Macy, who returns to the small town she left as a teenager and finds herself linked to the disappearances of two girls in the wilds of Tasmania 15 years apart.
Le Nevez and Henry Nixon play two local policemen; Le Nevez is Brian Dutch, a manipulative and dangerous antagonist to Anna, and Nixon is Fergus McFadden, once her closest childhood friend.
The impressive ensemble of well-known Australian faces and those on the rise also includes Anthony Phelan as Anna’s father Roy, who is surprised to see his daughter again and concerned about the stir she causes amongst the locals; Damien Garvey as Max Holloway, husband to Barbara (Sacha Horler) and father to Chloe (Sianoa Smit-McPhee), Tilda Cobham-Hervey as Eliza Grayson and Ben Oxenbould as Craig Grayson, Dylan Young as Dane Sullivan, Neil Pigot as Dominic Harrold, Damon Gameau as Jens Jorgensson, Suzi Dougherty as Renae Baxter and Kevin MacIsaac as Travis Kingston.
The production has a very strong contingent of Tasmanian raised or resident actors, with seven cast in regular roles. The best known are Alison Whyte, whose many credits include the Foxtel dramas Satisfaction and Tangle, and Kris McQuade, who was internationally acclaimed as Wentworth’s Jacs Holt. New talents are Brad Kannegiesser, Katie Robertson, Marcus Hensley, Nathan Spencer and Matt Burton.
The Kettering Incident is being produced and co-created by Vincent Sheehan of Porchlight Films in association with Sweet Potato Films’ Victoria Madden as co-creator, producer and show runner. Andy Walker is a producer and Foxtel’s Head of Drama Penny Win is executive producer.
Penny Win said "Vincent Sheehan and Victoria Madden have gathered a remarkable congregation of creative and technical talents to bring this bold drama series to life. The Kettering Incident is an intriguing story, innately connected with the wild gothic beauty of Tasmania, and destined to enthral Foxtel subscribers when it premieres next year.”
Vincent Sheehan said “We are very excited about the calibre of talent joining us for our great southern adventure. Being such a distinctive Tasmanian story, it was important for us to cast as many roles from the island as possible. The depth of local talent was beyond expectations further imbuing the series with an authentic sense of Tasmania, on many levels.”
Tasmanian born and bred Madden is the one of the writers along with Andrew Knight, Cate Shortland and Louise Fox. The series directors are Rowan Woods and Tony Krawitz.
The Kettering Incident is being filmed entirely on location in south eastern Tasmania and has secured funding from Screen Tasmania and Screen Australia. BBC Worldwide has the international distribution rights.
