Halo, Bounty reveal first releases under distribution partnership

Documentaries In The Trenches: The Making of Before Dawn and Gravel Road join horror Violett as the first titles under a new distribution partnership between Halo Films and Bounty Films.

Announced in September last year, the deal gives Halo projects a release across TVOD and AVOD services and makes them available for SVOD and Free-To-Air TV sales. They will also have a pathway to on-demand Blu-ray and DVD releases via major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Barnes & Noble.

Of the stories included in the initial slate, Benjamin Scotford’s In The Trenches: The Making of Before Dawn goes behind the scenes of 23-year-old independent director-producer Jordon Prince-Wright’s independent WWI-set drama Before Dawn; Tristan Pemberton’s Gravel Road follows Jay Minning and his four-piece band, The Desert Stars, on their 2018 debut tour as they travel from their home in the remote Tjuntjuntjara community of Western Australia’s Great Victoria Desert; and Steven J. Mihaljevich’s Violett explores trauma, grief, and destructive self-preservation through the eyes of a sick mother that fears unspeakable evil will soon snatch her 11-year-old daughter, Violett, from her sight.

Bounty Films Acquisitions and Distribution AD Anthony Nelson again expressed his excitement at working with Halo Films.

“Their catalog is an often-undiscovered treasure trove of independent visions and captivating stories, and we’re eager to bring these titles to audiences in fresh and accessible ways,” he said.

Halo Films founder Ian Hale was pleased that the three WA films would find new homes with film lovers worldwide.

“Partnering with Bounty Films allows us to reach broader audiences while staying true to our mission of championing exceptional West Australian-made independent films,” he said.
