Kristy Best has appeared in 'Neighbours', 'Airlock', 'Teenage Kicks' and the upcoming 'Dance Academy' feature.
The biggest issue facing the Australian film or TV industry is: Time, opportunity and money for experimentation.
Best movie quote of all time: "You stop telling lies about me, I'll stop telling the truth about you". It's from Money Never Sleeps – don't judge me.
Do you Google yourself? Yes, mainly to see what nationality people think I am this week.
If you could live inside one of your shows, would you? Which one? I made a short some years ago called Something Fishy. I would live in that world in a second, regardless of how macabre it is.
Classics I would like to remake: American Psycho with an all-female cast.
Favourite comedy film/show of all time: Nothing has made me laugh more than the Danish black comedy Adam's Apples.
Favourite comedian? I can't just pick one and I have to throw in some comic actors as well, so, Robin Williams, Joan Cusack, Leslie Mann, Will Ferrell, Sarah Silverman and Steve Martin to start with.
Favourite guilty pleasure: I know no bounds when it comes to junk food but my perfect guilty day is watching a film at the French Film Festival, solo, with a choc-mint choc top.
Worst filmmaking experience? I'm going to be diplomatic and say I've learnt from every difficult situation…
Unsung Australian film/TV hero/heroine: Laurence Breuls, who you may remember from Blackrock, is an actor I'd like to see back on our screens. As a teen I was lucky enough to be part of a game of Space Jump with him that I will never forget. He was electric. I mean, Space Jump?! Who shines in that? We should track him down. I'd actually like to see him act opposite Meyne Wyatt.
If I weren’t in the film/TV industry, I’d be… an entrepreneur of sorts. Forever hatching my hair brained schemes.
If money were no object, what would your next film/show be? I've been developing a "scarytale" I'd love to film in Europe with WETA creating all the weird and wonderful effects.
If a film about your life was made, who would play you? Ellie Kemper. I'm sure most would agree neither of us are lacking in the energy department.
I’d spend my last $20 on: Buying Muriel's Wedding on DVD. Laughter is always helpful when you're struggling.
