Little Sparrows selected for London Australian Film Festival

Press release from BolderPictures

Bolderpictures is delighted to announce that its debut feature film Little Sparrows has been selected for the 17th London Australian Film Festival, with festival organisers calling it ‘a little gem’.

The Barbican’s popular film festival is an eagerly awaited annual landmark on both the London and UK wide film calendar. It has shown every major Australian feature film since 1984 with this year’s line-up including Mao’s Last Dancer, Animal Kingdom and Tomorrow, When the War Began.

Described as ‘one of the finest cinematic showcases in the UK calendar', the festival provides UK audiences with a unique overview of Australian cinema today and is critical to securing UK sales.

Director and producer Yu-Hsiu Camille Chen says she is excited that her debut feature continues to garner such strong international interest.

Little Sparrows is a film of strong independent vision and a very genuine personal voice.

“The international exposure and showcase continues to broaden the film’s accessibility to audience worldwide.

“It is exciting and affirming for all the efforts and commitment behind the scene – the talents of all cast and crew involved,” said Chen.

Little Sparrows has screened in cinemas around the world receiving rave reviews in international media, rapturous applause on the festival circuit and lengthy standing ovations at its international premiere in Rome.

Most recently it won Outstanding Drama at the 24th WA Screen Awards, the 2010 DigiSPAA SPAArtan Award for Best Digital Feature Film, and was nominated for Inside Film’s prestigious Independent Spirit IF Award.

Little Sparrows opens at Cinema Paradiso in Perth on Thursday 5 May. For session details, please visit www.lunapalace.com.au.
