The Festival, which grew its viewer participation by 25 percent in 2010, ran from 21 April to 09 May and featured more than 170 German films. Screening in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, the festival also stared international guests including leading German film director Sönke Wortmann.
Sönke Wortmann who travelled to Australia courtesy of Lufthansa presented his latest box office film, Pope Joan staring Australian actor David Wenham and the late Australian singer Michael Hutchinson’s daughter Tigerlily as the young Joan.
As a longstanding partner and the official airline sponsor of the event Lufthansa not only flew in German film celebrities but also created Lufthansa festival lounges in Sydney and Melbourne catering for 200 VIP guest.
