The Australian Film Commission (AFC) have announced that AFC Chair Maureen Barron has been reappointed to the position until 30 June 2008.
Maureen Barron has chaired the AFC Board of Commissioners since 29 October 1997 and brings extensive business expertise specialising in the entertainment industry to her role as Chair.
Rachel Perkins and Colin South have also been reappointed as AFC Commissioners until 30 June 2008.
Rachel Perkins is from the Arrernte and Kalkadoon nations and is a graduate and past Council Member of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. She is currently developing a nine-hour series for SBS on the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people entitled First Australians as well as serving as Chair of Indigenous Screen Australia.
Colin South started working in television in 1972. Since establishing Animation Works Pty Ltd in 1994, he has produced six animated television series, including the current children’s comedy series Dogstar.
Acting Chief Executive Chris Fitchett has also been re-appointed.
The AFC is an Australian Government agency operating under the Commonwealth Film Program to ensure the creation, preservation and availability of Australian audiovisual content. ??From 1 July 2008, the AFC will be integrated with the Film Finance Corporation Australia (FFC) and Film Australia Limited, to form the new Australian Screen Authority.
