Michael Joy’s feature drama about Australian male issues, Men’s Group, is set to begin a new leg of screenings this week including two special sessions at the men’s and women’s prisons in Risdon Vale, Tasmania.
The prison screenings are part of the $25,000 AFI Fellowship grant that was awarded to distribution company Titan View by the AFI last year.
Titan View’s John L. Simpson said last year he would use the grant to take Men’s Group to regional towns and community groups.
Simpson said the film would screen this coming Wednesday and Thursday in the men’s and women’s prisons respectively, followed by Q&A sessions where the inmates would have the chance to ask him questions, as producer of the film.
He said the film would then launch a series of screenings in NSW towns, such as Tamworth, Armidale, Bellingen, Dorrigo, Bowraville, and Bowral, before heading over to Singapore for the Singapore International Film Festival in April.
