Filmmakers around Australia and across the globe have until 26 November to submit their film and pay early bird fees and until 18 March 2011 to pay regular entry fees for admission into the Melbourne International Film Festival’s (MIFF) 2011 program.
Early bird entry fee for shorts are AUD$65 and AUD$75 for features. Regular entry fee for shorts is AUD$70 and AUD$80 for features. MIFF will accept late entry fees until 31 March 2011, but fees will be increased to AUD$90 for shorts and AUD$100 for features.
MIFF is the most prestigious film festival in Australia and its short film competition is regarded as the premiere short film competition in the Asia Pacific region, screening approximately 100 short films every year, including animation, experimental, documentary and fiction films. Short films must be Victorian premieres to be eligible for the Competition and competing films can qualify for an Academy Award nomination.
The Melbourne International Film Festival screens over 300 films from 50 countries around the world, and attracts internationally acclaimed guests including Adrian Grenier, Quentin Tarantino, Morgan Spurlock, Carey Mulligan, Christopher Doyle, Park Chan-wook, Im Sang-Soo, Aamir Khan, Ana Kokkinos, Robert Connolly, Rachel Perkins, Geoffrey Rush and Eric Bana. 2011 will celebrate MIFF’s 60th year, making it one of the oldest film festivals in the world.
