More festival success for Big Dreamers

After sold out screenings in Florida, Montana, Kansas, Oklahoma and the prestigious 2007 SILVERDOCS AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival in Washington DC, Australia’s award winning comedic documentary Big Dreamers continues its successful USA festival circuit run at this year’s 16th Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

Listed as one of the top ten documentary festivals in the world today, the Hot springs Film Festival enjoys support from such luminary groups as the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Arkansas Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. The growth of Festival audiences, educational initiatives, prestige, and the acquisition of the infamous Malco Theatre has led to the broadening of the Festival into aninternationally acclaimed year-round Institute that attracts over 30,000+ audience members and filmmakers.

We are also proud to announce that Big Dreamers has also just been awarded withet The Accolade prize 2007 Award of Excellence – Videography. The founder of the competition Thomas Baker, Ph.D had this to say about the film:

Big Dreamers is a carefully crafted, entertaining documentary that tells the story of the civic grand adventure to restore Tully, Australia’s glory. It would make don Quixote proud. The Accolade judges loved the folksy, authentic feel of the production, which is sure to delight audiences. Filmmakers Camille Hardman and John Fink have an eye for the ironic, yet is clearly sympatric with the sincerity of those who dare to dream big dreams. It’s a standout production that deserves wide distribution.’

The post production of Big Dreamers was funded by the Australian Film Commission (AFC). The AFC is a government funding organisation that supports and fosters new, merging and established filmmakers.
