NZ Government awards $1.24m to Vista

Cinema management software company Vista Entertainment Solutions has been awarded a NZ$1.24 million grant to go toward its planned international expansion.

The grant is part of the New Zealand Government’s new Technology Development Fund, designed to boost business research and development.

The fund is driven by the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology.

Vista currently exports to 50 countries, with a global market share of 15 per cent.

The company aims to use the Government’s investment to expand beyond this, specifically targeting China and the U.S – where Vista has less than 1 per cent share of the market.

“We plan to use these funds to help us to continue to be the market leaders and ultimately sign up more cinemas,” said Vista CEO, Murray Holdaway in a statement.

Other companies selected for the grant include Fisher and Paykel and VFX company, Weta Digital.
