Panasonic Australia introduces chip DLP projector

Panasonic Australia introduces industry’s brightest single chip DLP projector with Digital Link

PT-DZ870 1-chip DLP projector boasts extraordinary brightness, low maintenance,

and the Digital Link cable solution, all in a compact body

Sydney, 20 May 2013: Panasonic Australia is proud to announce the arrival of the PT-DZ870 Series – a new three-strong flagship range of up to 10,000 lumen[vii] 1-chip DLP projectors.

The Series consists of the PT-DZ870 with WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution and 8,500 lumens of brightness, the PT-DW830 with WXGA (1,280 x 800) resolution and 8,500 lumens of brightness and the PT-DX100 with XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution and 10,000 lumens of brightness.

Peter Huljich, Group Manager – Projector, Business Systems Group, Panasonic Australia, said: “We are establishing a new class of installation projectors with the PT-DZ870 Series. These projectors offer exceptional brightness in a 1-chip DLP, coupled with Digital Link connectivity. They are perfect for efficient and flexible installations in auditoriums and large meeting rooms, as well as digital signage applications.”

Excellent image quality is assured with the high contrast ratio of 10,000:1, and Panasonic’s proprietary Dynamic RGB booster. The incorporation of the Digital Link long distance cable solution enables the expansion of applications to museums, control rooms, conference rooms and projection mapping.

Key Features

Outstanding image quality

With the incorporation of the new 420W dual lamp and new lamp drive system, the PT-DZ870 Series is able to deliver a high brightness of 8,500 lumens in an incredibly compact body.

The Panasonic proprietary Dynamic RGB booster, which has been enhanced, provides images with brilliant colour and brightness, optimising lamp intensity of individual red, green and blue colours according to each scene. Detail Clarity Processor 3 improves the clarity, detail and depth of images and the System Daylight View 2 function also helps maintain picture quality, even in a bright room. The Series is 3D-compatible and supports various 3D formats including frame packing, side by side, top and bottom, line by line and simultaneous.

High reliability and easy maintenance

The projector delivers continuous immersive image quality thanks to its shielded optical system which effectively blocks dust, and its new heat pipe system which enables an efficient cooling system.

The PT-DZ870 Series is also designed with a dual lamp system that eliminates projection interruption due to a lamp failure. The Lamp Relay mode alternates operation of each lamp to enable 24/7 operation of the projector. Furthermore, its lamp replacement cycle has been improved compared to conventional Panasonic 1-chip DLP models, and is now up to 3,000 hours in normal mode and 4,000 hours in eco mode for reduced maintenance.

‘Digital Link’ for simplified AV infrastructure

The PT-DZ870 Series offers more than just high picture quality, ease of maintenance, and system reliability. It is DIGITAL LINK compatible which guarantees users a simplified AV infrastructure with high definition video, audio, and control signals all carried over a single CAT5e or higher specification Ethernet cable for up to 100 metres.[viii]

The PT-DZ870 projector can be paired with Panasonic's ET-YFB100 proprietary Digital Interface Box, or can be connected directly with other manufacturers’ HDBaseT™variants for direct connection to their switcher system without the need for an external receiver. The PT-DZ870 Series also ensures interoperability with major AV control manufacturers’ control protocols such as Crestron’s Digital Media 8G+, Extron’s XTP Systems, and AMX’s Enova DVX.

The built-in Geometric Adjustment function expands creative projection possibilities by facilitating projection onto spherical, cylindrical and other specially shaped ‘screens’. Optional software, Geometry Manager Pro Version 1.1, is available for wider ranging adjustments and marking functions.

Application flexibility is further enhanced through the lens being located in a centralised position in the projector chassis, by a wide range of movement in the motorised horizontal / vertical lens shift[ix] and through 360-degree installation capability.

Additional features to enable greater installation flexibility include portrait mode compatibility allowing vertical rotation for upright images; and an abundance of connectivity options, including SDI[x], DVI-D, HDMI, and 3D timing signal in/out.
