Luma Pictures recently worked on ‘Black Panther’.
Film Victoria and Creative Victoria have teamed to offer 12 early career Victorian VFX practitioners a six-month paid placement at either Method Studios or Luma Pictures in Melbourne.
Recent projects worked on by Luma include Captain Marvel and Black Panther, while Method has worked on Game of Thrones, Aquaman and Christopher Robin.
In its first year, the placement program will include work on projects such as Peter Rabbit 2, the untitled Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel and Terminator: Dark Fate.
Method Studios head of VFX Simon Rosenthal said: “Nurturing home-grown talent is pivotal to our business as we continue to expand. This is an outstanding opportunity for both Method Studios and those starting a career in the wonderful world of VFX and animation.”
Luma Pictures vice president/head of culture Jamy Zink: “We are lucky to have fostered junior talent throughout Luma’s history and are excited to provide Victorians with opportunities to work in the industry alongside our talented crew.”
Victorian Minister Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley “This program will not only provide jobs for our next-generation of creative talent, it will ensure Victoria remains the place for the best visual effects for the world’s biggest productions.
“VFX is an industry of today and of the future. This new placement program is someone’s chance at Hollywood – without leaving home.”
The first intake of the program will commence in August with applications closing June 10. Apply on the Film Victoria website.
