Police dawn raid busts movie piracy ring

NSW Police, assisted by investigators from the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft, have raided two residential premises in western Sydney and seized over 8,000 pirated DVD movies.

Police first swooped on a home in Guildford in south west Sydney, seizing a DVD burner operation consisting of 3,000 master copies of DVDs and console games, three burners and pricing and distribution lists.

The haul included copies of “Horton Hears A Who!” and “There Will Be Blood” which are currently showing in Australian cinemas and have not yet legitimately been released on DVD.

They also discovered copies of two current television shows, “Underbelly” and “Prison Break”.
