DRONE is a soon to be produced feature film that has garnered considerable excitement and momentum, both here and in the U.S, with some major producers and distributors attached. The newly produced ‘proof of concept’ (District 9 model) 2 minute trailer for this political thriller was a great hit at the 2013 SXSW Festival in Austin Texas and also in L.A.

DRONE is a story with true international appeal, hitting upon the current global phenomenon of robotic warfare, a hot topic. The concept of drones for both combat and surveillance is highly controversial and grows in the public consciousness with every passing day. The moral ambiguity of war is being tested right now as you read this.

SYNOPSIS:
DRONE is the story of Dalton, an ‘armchair warrior’, a drone pilot with the U.S. Army. From his computer screens and controls in an operating station in Nevada 7,000 miles from his target in Afghanistan, he holds the power of life and death. Point, click, kill. Forget.

DRONE is directed by Edwin McGill, an international award-winning film and commercial director. This is his feature directing debut, with screenplay written by Christopher McGill and Edwin McGill and produced by Jason Byrne. The feature trailer stars Guy Edmonds (Bedlam) and Peter Phelps (Lantana) with cinematography by Marin Johnson.

The feature script DRONE is entering the final draft stage. Christopher McGill, the lead writer on the project, brings 40 years of experience and ability. He is highly acclaimed with a number of screenplay awards to his name. Madman Entertainment are attached to the project and financing has begun. DRONE is a co-venture between the U.S. and Australia with plans to shoot in northern India and Nevada in 2014.
