Queensland welcomes FFC three

High-profile actors Guy Pearce and David Wenham have been lured back to Queensland to start work on new feature film by writer/director Fred Schepisi.
Arts Minister Rod Welford said the feature film Last Man was one of three Queensland projects to secure production funding from the Film Finance Corporation.

Last Man will be filmed primarily on location in Queensland and create around 300 jobs as part of the shoot,” Mr Welford said.

“As well as teaming the renowned Fred Schepisi with talented local crew – a major boon in itself for our film industry – Last Man will see the welcome return of actors Guy Pearce and David Wenham to the Sunshine State.

“Two documentaries from Queensland production houses – My America and The Curse of the Gothic Symphony – also secured funding from the FFC in this latest round.

“With a combined total production budget of $21.5 million, these productions will significantly boost the state’s solid production slate.

“Gaining funding from the country’s main film funding body is further recognition of the quality and market appeal of Queensland screen projects.

“Our Government, through the Pacific Film and Television Commission (PFTC), supports these projects as part of our drive to get local ideas on screen.

“Both documentaries have received PFTC development and production investment as well as marketing assistance, and Last Man received production funding.”

Last Man is a big-budget drama from writer/director Fred Schepisi (Fierce Creatures, Evil Angels) about the emotional scars borne by the wives of Australian soldiers in the Vietnam War.

The film will be produced by Warwick Young (U Turn) and Martin Brown (Moulin Rouge), in association with Prairie Dog Films and distributor Hoyts.
