Regency Entertainment launches film distribution business

Home entertainment business Regency Entertainment is entering the film distribution market.

The new division, Regency Film Distribution, will initially distribute sci-fi epic Love and two documentaries about contemporary artists: Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir and Anton Corbin Inside Out.

The business is being headed by former Umbrella Entertainment manager of cinema sales and marketing, Ivan Vukusic.

Both documentaries will be shown on a maximum of about 10-15 screens while Love will be shown on less than 10 screens although Vukusic said “we’ll be expanding beyond that to 20, 30 and 50 screens releases with a view to expanding even further in the coming years”.

Parent company Regency Media has manufactured home entertainment media since the mid-1950s. In 2007 it formed a joint venture with Indian company Saregama India Ltd and in late-2009 acquired the Kings Park Home Entertainment Distribution Centre from Harper Collins. In 2010 it acquired the assets of independent entertainment company Shock.
