Ryan Kwanten to star in Australian romantic-comedy Not Suitable For Children

Ryan Kwanten will star in new Australian romantic-comedy Not Suitable For Children.

The feature – about a man who learns he is about to become infertile, which prompts him to find someone to have a baby with before it’s too late – will begin shooting next month in Sydney.

Kwanten leads the cast, which also includes 2010 IF Out of the Box award winner Ryan Corr (Packed to the Rafters, Underbelly: The Golden Mile), 2011 Graham Kennedy TV WEEK LOGIE Award winner for most outstanding new talent Sarah Snook (Sisters of War, Spirited) and Bojana Novakovic (Burning Man, Edge of Darkness).

Not Suitable For Children marks the feature debut for Lockie Leonard director Peter Templeman, who was also nominated for an Academy Award for his short film The Saviour in 2007.

“After four years of development it's a huge thrill to be rolling cameras with such a fantastic cast and crew” he said in a statement. “Although this film will not be suitable for kids, we do have some valuable lessons in it – like how to fit thirty-six people into a small bathroom and why this is good to do."

The film is written by Michael Lucas (Offspring) and produced by Jodi Matterson (Razzle Dazzle).

"Not Suitable for Children is a wonderful concept – for once it is the guy's biological clock that is ticking and that is something a female audience can look forward to," Matterson said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have such an exciting and talented director and a knock-out young cast led by Ryan Kwanten.”

Bruna Papandrea (Milk) is executive producer of the film, which has been supported by Screen Australia, Fulcrum Media Finance, Screen NSW and Frame Set and Match. Icon Film Distribution is the Australian distributor while Arclight is handling international sales.
