Press Release from Screen Australia
Screen Australia has welcomed a new Board member, Ross Entwistle who has been exhibiting and distributing motion pictures for almost 25 years.
Entwistle has experience in more than 18 international territories as an exhibitor, and has worked on over 150
films as a theatrical distributor in Australia.
Mr Entwistle was most recently managing director of Greater Union, the largest cinema operator in Australia, with over 450 screens, as well as a leading cinema operator in the United Arab Emirates. Previously, Mr Entwistle was managing director of Sony Pictures Releasing (Australia), and he held senior executive positions with Village Roadshow during the 1990s. He is a former Chairman of the Australian Cinema Exhibitors Coalition (ACEC) and the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia (MPDAA), and is the 2010 president-elect of the Society of Australian Cinema Pioneers. In 2008 he was named, along with Greater Union, as the ‘International Exhibitor of the Year’ at ShoWest, the world’s largest convention for the motion picture exhibition and distribution industries.
"I am delighted to have been appointed. I look forward to working with the Board and bringing the insights gained over 25 years of connecting audiences with content to Screen Australia’s efforts to foster a more sustainable screen industry," said Mr Entwistle.
Mr Entwistle will join existing Screen Australia Board members Chair Glen Boreham, Deputy Chair Ian Robertson, Cherrie Bottger, Robert Connolly, Rachel Perkins, Greg Smith and Deanne Weir.
