2015 recipient Lauren Elliott.
ScreenWest's 2016 Emerging Producer Initiative is now open for entries.
The initiative is a year-long $100,000 program to assist early-career Western Australian producers to build a competitive project slate and further their professional experience.
It includes funding toward project development and professional opportunities tailored to the individual.
“ScreenWest has for a second year running committed $100,000 to this initiative on the heels of the stand-out achievements from last year’s recipient Lauren Elliott", said ScreenWest Chief Executive Ian Booth.
"We’re looking forward to funding one or two fantastic applicants to develop their skills and projects over the ensuing year”.
ABC’s Head of Comedy Rick Kalowski said, “In the last year the ABC has worked with Lauren and Mad Kids on their outstanding iView satire series DAFUQ?, their sitcom pilot The Legend of Gavin Tanner (airing soon as part of our primetime ABC Comedy Showroom), their ABC3 interstitial musical/comedy series The Shapes, and we’re in conversation with Lauren and team about several more TV projects."
"ScreenWest’s Emerging Producer Initiative has allowed Lauren the security and ability to develop those existing and future projects, and I couldn’t commend the initiative enough, based on the fantastic opportunities it’s afforded not only Lauren, but – thanks to her and ScreenWest – us at ABC in turn”.
The initiative is aimed at early-career producers with a strong demonstrated commitment to producing screen content and whom require further professional development.
Applicants will need to have a marketable, diverse slate of projects in development.
Application is by a two stage process. For full details read the ScreenWest Emerging Producer Initiative Guidelines here.
Stage One expressions of interest are due in by close of business April 26.
Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to progress to Stage Two, and will be required to submit all materials by c.o.b. May 26.
