Short Film Festival Announces Panel of Judges

Harmony International Short Film Festival announced today an all-star panel of judges that will be screening and rating the top entries.

The judging panel includes Actress Allison Cratchley of “All Saints, Water Rats, Rai Choi”, Director/Producer Tim Wise “The Block, Survivor, Soldiers of Peace”, Actor/Voiceover talent & AFI Award winner Nick Tate“ The Devil’s Playground, Hook, Lost”, Actress Anita Hegh” Stingers, Return to Jupiter, Paradise Road” and Writer/Producer Heather Phillips ”Mother of an attitude, Flush”. 

The winners of the more than $5,000 in cash and prizes will be announced at the award ceremony being held at the landmark Chauvel Cinema in Paddington (corner of Oxford St, & Oatley Rd) from 5.00pm to 7.00pm on Saturday, October 24th.

After announcing “courage” as the 2009 theme last October, HIFF fans around the country and the world began scripting and producing creative and innovative themed short films. Films were submitted from all over Australia and the globe including Mexico, Spain, US, Ireland, Canada, Belgium, Hungary, Germany and Denmark.

After all the entries were reviewed, eight finalists were selected and presented to the five judges who will rate each on originality, overall quality and connection to HIFF’s themed content. Finalist filmmakers have been invited to the screening and awards ceremony and joined by their families, friends and HIFF fans, will be celebrating the 2009 Harmony International Short Film Festival. The judges will be on hand to award the prizes to the top three filmmakers and the audience choice award will be voted for on the night.

The program includes a live performance by accomplished singer and songwriter Ben Charters.
