Hollywood director Simon West has signed on to direct Australian outback adventure Dust and Glory.
West is currently directing The Expendables 2 and counts films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The General’s Daughter and Con Air among his credits.
The $40 million privately-financed Dust and Glory, based on the Evan Green novel of the same name, tells the true story of the 1950’s redex car race trials.
Producer Robert Lewis Galinsky, who also wrote the script, said he was now making some script amendments after discussions. “He has some absolutely amazing ideas,” Galinsky said.
Pre-production is set to being in March 2012 before filming in June-July.
Elizabeth Howatt-Jackman, who produced horror film Prey alongside Galinsky, is also producing with David Parker (The Big Steal, Matching Jack). Blue Star Entertainment's Jason Shuman and William Sherak are also producers while Zach Green will co-produce.
Blue Star Entertainment's last Australian-shot film was the 2003 horror movie Darkness Falls.
