Patrick Brammall and Tim Minchin on set.
Stan scored three nominations for its original series No Activity in the Logie nominations yesterday – the first such nominations for an SVOD service.
No Activity was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and both Tim Minchin and Dan Wyllie were nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
Stan Original's Wolf Creek series is currently being shopped by Banijay International (producer Screentime’s parent company) at MIPTV in Cannes ahead of its May 12 launch on Stan.
“Stan has set out to be a pioneer of Australia’s evolving television landscape and these nominations are yet another landmark moment for Australian TV", Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said.
“We are committed to supporting the local production industry and producing the highest quality Australian television that will not only stand amongst the best at home, but also in international markets."
“We are incredibly proud to receive three Logie nominations for No Activity and congratulate the team at Jungle, the cast and crew, especially Tim Minchin, Dan Wyllie and creators Patrick Brammall and Trent O’Donnell.”
No Activity's EP, Jungle's Jason Burrows, said: “It’s a total disgrace to nominate a show about a bunch of people sitting around doing nothing. Definitely rigged!"
“A big congratulations to the incredible team and a huge thank you to Stan for providing an avenue for brave, world-class content. What Stan is doing is really exciting for the future of Australia’s production industry.”
No Activity was directed by Trent O'Donnell and created by O’Donnell and Patrick Brammall.
The series was developed by O’Donnell, Brammall, Darren Gilshenan and David Field, and produced by Chloe Rickard.
Executive producers were Burrows, O’Donnell, Phil Lloyd, Nick Forward, Rob Gibson, Jo Rooney and Andy Ryan.
The Logies will be held May 8.
