[Press Release by Tsuki]
On 24 and 25 October at Sydney’s Chauvel Cinema, 2008 SPAA Fringe will host the advanced screening of the big wave surfing thriller, Storm Surfers, and welcomes to the stage Producer Marcus Gillezeau.
Directed by Chris Nelius & Justin McMillan and produced by Marcus Gillezeau & Akhim Dev, Storm Surfers is a one-hour documentary, with its world television premiere on Discovery Channel on Wednesday, 17th December at 8.30pm. The documentary combines extreme surfing and weather prediction, sport and science with bravery to find the largest storm fronts and surf them.
Featuring big wave legend Ross Clarke-Jones and former World Champion Tom Carroll, Storm Surfers follows their trials and triumphs as they attempt to ride the biggest, most nightmarish super waves in Australia.
Utilising the latest HD camera technology and GPS tracking devices to measure the toll on the 40 plus year old surfer’s bodies, viewers are positioned right at the front of the surfboard, testing the limits of physical endurance in the pursuit of the ultimate ride.
At SPAA Fringe, Gillezeau will speak about how the doco was developed, financed, produced and marketed.
SPAA Fringe is an aspirational two-day event in Sydney which is set to educate, connect and inspire filmmakers. The conference is brought to you by the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) an industry body that represents Australian independent film and television producers on all issues affecting the business and creative aspects of screen production.
